Daryl has been racing in one form or another most of his life, In the early years racing Go Karts, then moving onto speedway racing stock cars and then swapping for side cars, first as a swinger, then buying the bike and trying his hand at the driver. Daryl has never been out of motor racing for long and always had a passion to go further. He would always find his way back his motor sport roots and has won many state and national titles in Go Karts. Daryl's flair and professionalism has always shown through his racing and setting up the Sonic Go Kart racing team back in the mid 90's is testament to that.
Daryl's dream was never fulfilled though until 2000 when Daryl purchased a 360ci powered sprintcar. Daryl learnt the ropes very quickly and running with the more powerful 372ci open's he had to. That year saw Daryl win almost every award available, Rockie of the year, top points for a 360 to name just a few. The one that eluded daryl was the 360 state title, And that was pure bad luck, as a rock would split the radiator and throw water onto the plugs causing the engine to lose power.
Daryl stepped up to the open car the following year, and steadily progressed, winning his first major event, The sprintcar Gold cup, a few years later. With his usual flair Daryl adopted the Australian flag and the Rogue Racing team was born. In 2010 the team made the trek over east to take on the sprintcar speedweek a gruelling 5 race meetings in 7 days from Adelaide in SA to Geelong in Vic and everywhere in between. After the first week, Daryl decided that we would leave the truck in Warrnambool and fly back for the Classic a few weeks later, then follow the world series back to WA.
This would be the end of sprintcar racing for a while, but not the end of Rogue Racing. Daryl was already running a wingless sprintcar which were starting to get a foothold in the racing scene in WA. Daryl would return to SA to contest his wingless sprintcar at the national championships later that season, and would become Australia 1, which seemed fitting as he already had the car painted to suit.
Daryl has been racing all over Australia in the Wingless. But his passion for the ultimate in speedway racing is not over. He will be back!
